Yummy! Made in Naija Mocktails , Sharwarma and Grilled Chicken all by Tasty Chops!
By Kemi Mobuse - Thursday, March 10, 2016
I remember going to different events and not been able to enjoy drinks mostly because they are all alcoholic, and as a teetotaler who has absolutely no love for anything stronger than malt, i usually leave such events a little unsatisfied....
Imagine one day, to my absolute delight as seeing a large tray of colourful drinks coming towards me beautifully garnished with fruits slices and more, saying that drink which i later learnt is called mocktail made my day is an understatement.
KMB came across a master or lets say Mistress of the cocktail art and was delighted to get her to have an interactive session with us...
Kemi Mobuse blog: Hello, Can we meet
you?
Tasty Chops: Yeah, my name is Zainab Muazu aka Baby
Muazu
Kemi Mobuse blog: What do you do?
Tasty Chops: I make chops and mock tail for sale. We make
the 'tastychops' braised chicken which is our signature. Other chops include
corn dogs, chicken wings, shawarma, burgers, puff puff... The list goes
on
Kemi Mobuse blog: Nice. Why this line of business in particular?
Kemi Mobuse blog: Nice. Why this line of business in particular?
Tasty Chops: Cooking is my passion. I've always loved
being in the kitchen. My mum loves the kitchen so my childhood memories of my
mum and I spending time, was in the kitchen. My sister Mimi is my number 1 motivator! And also a good cook. So it’s always fun making food for people .
Kemi Mobuse blog: Awwww! So when did you
decide it’s time to make a business out of your passion.
Tasty Chops: This whole thing started in November 2014. My sister in law called invited me to attend a Bazaar they were organizing at the Fashion House in Kaduna. Because she's always liked my cooking. I said no, at first cause I never imagined cooking in that 'sense' lol. But she kept calling, so my sister Mimi thought I should give it a try. And before I knew it, we were out buying things. We had only a week to prepare but we pulled it off. From then we started getting calls

Kemi Mobuse blog: What challenges have you
experienced since inception?
Tasty Chops: Not very many. The main challenge is not
having a main outlet. Because of that, I sometimes cannot serve a single
customer who is only craving a chicken lap, a cup of Chapman or maybe just bowl
of salad.
Apart from that I can't place any serious challenge

Kemi Mobuse blog: What worst advice has
anyone given you since you started?
Tasty Chops: To stop spending my money on the good stuff
when buying groceries so I can make more money.
Kemi Mobuse blog: Lol! Did you listen?
Tasty Chops: Of course not!!! The whole point of this
business is to share my cooking with people
Kemi Mobuse blog: How was start up financial
wise?
Tasty Chops: Rough. Nothing was adding up because I had no experience in business. I
couldn't find any profit anywhere
Kemi Mobuse blog: And now?
Tasty Chops: Well, well, I'm finding my ground. I
understand how much I need to make a certain meal and how much I will make out
of it. But I'm still learning, baby steps 😊
Kemi Mobuse blog: I applaud your courage and
I believe you will get there
Tasty Chops: Yes in sha Allah!
Kemi Mobuse blog: Is Mimi your business
partner now?
Tasty Chops: Yes. She is my sister. And is a very
important part of tasty chops.
Kemi Mobuse blog: Do you have the support of
your family for this business
Tasty Chops: Oh yes! My family is my main support system.
My siblings help me with cooking and serving so I only employ people when I
have a very big event. My mum also helps with the cooking and Daddy is always
there to taste lol
Kemi Mobuse blog: You mentioned" tasty
chops" why that, as a choice of name
Tasty Chops: It was the only name that came to mind that
sounded good. Mimi's suggestion
Kemi Mobuse blog: It actually sound good and
makes me feel hungry too, lol
Tasty Chops: I guess that's the point. Maybe we should
ask Mimi
