My most memorable moment in my brand Journey is when I packaged Tiwa Savage's Traditional Wedding Gifts- CEO Eru Iyawo

By Kemi Mobuse - Thursday, May 12, 2016

Imagine that moment, when you sitting on your own Jejeli, a friend of yours decided to call you up and inform you that; she is getting married. Of course, you screamed happily and started making plans immediately. As time went on, it was time to pay for Aso ebi. She said; aso ebi is 50k, lovely material and so so so. Inside you, you fainted! Woke up and screamed again, 50k bawo? But, you managed to pay albeit grudgingly, while thinking of the number of things you could have easily done with the said money.

Long story short, Invitation arrived; venue is four points by Sheratons Hotel, Lagos. You were like Wow! This wedding is gonna be really lit! D-day arrived, on getting to the reception for the traditional ceremony, you spotted the “ Eru Iyawo” (Bridal Gifts), sitting prettily and well arranged, in its own place, with lights, flowers, decorations and all….you could barely contain your gasp of amazement and admiration. You just found yourself standing there, gawking and gaping, even planning your own wedding in your head already. Then, you remembered just in time that; you are a lady and needs to form and act classy! Yet, from your seat, the Eru Iyawo kept calling your attention sha! Hehe!

That exactly right there; is the exact type of reaction, that the CEO of Eru Iyawo wants to elicit with her craft, she talked more about what made her brand special in her exclusive interview with KMB, oya go and read! Bye bye…Lol!

Kemi Mobuse blog: Can we meet you?

Eru iyawo: Mrs Omowunmi Abayomi -Johnson

Kemi Mobuse blog: What do you do?

Eru iyawo: I am the CEO of Eru Iyawo, my brand is into Engagement gifts packaging, buying of gift items, marriage proposal n acceptance letter during a Traditional Wedding Ceremony.

Kemi Mobuse blog: What inspired your going into this field in particular?

Eru iyawo: My flair for gift wrapping started way back from sec. school days, then I help people source for gift items for loved ones n have them well packed n nicely wrapped.
Back then, I needed to pay for wrapping so I usually pay attention when the wrapping is being done. That was how I got my skills.
The birth of eruiyawo actually started with my own traditional wedding in Oct 2009. I begged my MIL to allow me wrap n package my eruiyawo which she gladly did and even gave me money for the materials needed.

Kemi Mobuse blog: AWWW! What is the name of your brand and how has the market reception been?

Eru iyawo: Eruiyawo concepts. It's wasn't so easy penetrating into the event industry because back then; people rely on aunties to wrap these gift items but accepting/having to pay a professional to do it instead, was a bit tough for them to accept. They all say; “haba! I can wrap gifts too now! But, we thank Jehovah because, inspite, we have come a long way n set a standard in the industry. Although we are still growing n striving to get better n better

Kemi Mobuse blog: What major challenges have you experienced since inception and what has it taught you?

Eru iyawo: Challenges is usually; sourcing for unique materials and also, getting a creative minded person to work with you. As for d materials I had to start travelling out in to get them. As for staffing; it's much better now.

Kemi Mobuse blog: In the journey of your brand so far, what can you say has been your most memorable experience and why did it stand out?

Eru iyawo: It was when I found out I was doing Tiwa Savage's eruiyawo . I didn't know initially because I had already been paid, I eventually got to know 2wks to the day. Mehn!  I worked my head out because I wanted to use the opportunity to gain public /social awareness which really did it for me. That Job sold and made my brand popular

Kemi Mobuse blog: Awww. That was really nice to know

Kemi Mobuse blog: What will people be surprised to know about you?

Eru iyawo: Well most people are always surprised when they see me and know that I run eruiyawo because they always expect one big madam but like I always tell them, here I am tiny but mighty😄

Kemi Mobuse blog: Where do you see Eru Iyawo in 5 years?

Eru iyawo: In 5yrs I see the brand not just rendering services for those that want their gifts packaged but also those doing the same business in terms of selling materials and other needed props for the biz.

Kemi Mobuse blog: What do you think is that unique touch you have that stands your brand out from others?

Eru iyawo: So many things, my engagement letters, my presentation n how the gifts are beautifully wrapped

Kemi Mobuse blog: What advice will you give to entrepreneurs who want to enter same field?

Eru iyawo: They need to be very creative n imaginative.

Kemi Mobuse blog: Lastly, how can you be contacted?

Eru iyawo: Call: 08077705929, 08181391997
